A few days ago I received a certificate from the Guinness World Records for participating in Destination Star Trek London attempt to break the record for largest gathering of people dressed as Star Trek charcters.
The record was achieved back in October 2012. I saw a post from Destination Star Trek about now able to purchase your own personalised certificate.
“Record Breaking News! Simply go to https://store.guinnessworldrecords.com/, click ‘new in store’ then ‘add to basket’ then use the following codes – ID: 130722-1486, Code: qrti6874QR (case sensitive) and add your name. Then follow the remaining instructions to complete your order! Well done again to all of you that came and took part!”
I filled out the form on the Guinness World Records website and payed for the certificate.
Even though Star Trek Las Vegas reclaimed the record in August 2013. I wanted the certificate as a memory of something I was part of on the day.

The London Film and Comic Con took place on 5th July – 7th July 2013, at Earls Court 2. Guests attending were from Film & TV shows, Sports & Comic Book Artists .
One of the attractions of going to the London Film and Comic Con this year was that it was the 20th anniversary of Star Trek Deep Space Nine and they were having a DS9 reunion.
I also wanted to meet the stars of Stargate SG1/Atlantis.
With the photos I wanted to get I didn’t want to wait around in queues all day like I did at Star Trek London. I decided to buy the Limited Exclusive Golden Programme, which would let the gold wrist band holders queue at the front or join smaller queues. The gold programme would also get you into most paid or free talks. This was great because you didn’t have to arrive extra early to avoid the long queues.
I met quite a few people in the queues that I spoke to and ones I had seen over the 2 days at LFCC. Saturday was the busiest day with me getting six photos. DS9 cast members were the photos I was looking to get done for day 1.
I met Tanya Gujral and Adam Howse from Trek Mate in the morning and walked around with them until I went to my first photo shoot.
Armin Shimerman and Alexander Siddig were the first photos and were back to back in Photo C. I met Michael Clark from Trek Mate and we walked around and looked at the various stools and costumes. Me and Michael, met up with Tanya and Adam before they left to head back to Brighton.
After lunch I went to my third and fourth photos of the day with Max Grodenchik and Aron Eisenberg in Photo B. Michael was at the talk with the artist Neil Adams that drew Batman comics in the 70′s and 80′s.
Being a very hot day, me and Michael went for a drink in the pub. After that Michael went home and I still had two photos to get. Salome Jen and William B Davis were the last two photos for the day.
Sunday was less busy at LFCC and was also the day of DS9 group photo and talk. I had an early photo with Amanda Tapping in Photo A. I met Bunny Summers and Laura Fawcett after from Trek Mate. We walked around the stools and they got a few autographs. I met
@ZombieRiker from twitter at one of the autograph queues. After that I went for my second photo with Jason Momoa in Photo C.
I met up with Laura and we went to the Doctor Who free talk. Quite a few of the Doctor Who guests were at this talk including two of the original Doctors, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy. After this talk I went to the Walking Dead paid talk and Laura went to the cafe for lunch.
The Walking Dead talk had Norman Reedus and Sarah Wayne Callies talking for about 30 minutes about their characters and the plot. Sarah talked about how Andrew Lincoln played his character with the American accent for the first season and they didn’t even know he was English.
I met up again with Laura in the cafe after the talk and took a few pictures of the cafe’s high view of LFCC. I went with Laura to get a few autographs from Rene Auberjonois, Nana Visitor and Armin Shimerman.
I had my third photo with Barry Jenner in Photo C.
We met up with Bunny again and also got to meet Becca (
@babbit_janeway) from twitter. After some time went past I went to meet Wayne, Leanne, Amy & Freya Emery at the entrance.
We walked around the stools and talked for a bit and then I headed back to where Laura and Bunny were before heading to the DS9 Talk. The DS9 talk was the last one of the weekend. This was the first reunion for many of the actors to be on stage together in a long time.
Avery Brooks, Nana Visitor, Rene Auberjonois, Andrew Robinson, Armin Shimerman, Max Grodenchik, Aron Eisenberg, Alexander Siddig and Salome Jens were all on stage for this 20th anniversary reunion talk of DS9.
After the talk Laura went home. I had one more photo shoot to get before the day was finished. Bunny was also getting the DS9 group photo which included Avery Brooks, Nana Visitor, Rene Auberjonois, Armin Shimerman and Alexander Siddig in Photo C.
After the shoot and before I headed home. I met up with Wayne again and also got to meet the Trekkie Girls. After a brief chat, I headed for home and it was the end of a good weekend.

A large amount of original footage from Star Trek TNG ‘The Measure Of A Man’ was cut from the episode during editing, but has been restored for the TNG Season 2 Blu-ray release.
Data’s rights as a individual are challenged when a senior Starfleet scientist wishes to disassemble the android to learn how to build more officers like him.
The extended version is 57 minutes, containing approximately 13 minutes of restored scenes and visual effects, which includes the following:
- Admiral Nakamura arrives onboard the Enterprise – 1st added scene
- Admiral Nakamura talks to Picard via the computer screen – 2nd added scene
- Picard reading the Starfleet regulations – 3rd added scene
- Data gives Geordi his Sherlock Holmes pipe as a gift and talk about what they would do if they left Starfleet – 4th added scene
- Doctor Pulaski gives advice to Data – 5th added scene
- Riker, Troi and Maddox scene – 6th added scene
- Picard added voice over – 7th added scene
- Picard sword fighting with Riker walking in – 8th added scene
- Data and Picard plan their case – 9th added scene
- Data and Riker talk, 3 new lines – 10th added scene
The extra footage only existed with the writer Melinda Snodgrass. All that existed was a VHS videotape of it. CBS was able to extended the cut with them finding the original filmed segments.
A really great episode from Season 2. I enjoyed re-watching and seeing the new footage for the first time in HD. There is also a Hybrid version combining the HD on-air version of “The Measure of a Man” with video of the extra material taken from the VHS rough-cut of the episode that the writer Melinda Snodgrass had. There is also an audio commentary with Mike and Denise Okuda and writer Melinda Snodgrass on the making of the episode.
